CSK Linear Motion Slide Rails

How are CSK Linear Motion Slide Rails Processed?

The processing of CSK linear motion slide rails is a process involving precision engineering and high precision. The main purpose is to ensure that the slides have a high degree of linear accuracy and smooth motion performance. Generally, it includes two parts: rail and carriage processing.

1. Rail Process Description

1.1 Raw Materials

Metal materials such as bearing steel, hub steel, copper, zinc and aluminum are the main materials for the manufacture of linear guides.
Raw materials need to be inspected and pre-treated before processing to ensure that there are no defects such as cracks or inclusions.

1.2 Cold Drawing

Cold drawing is to stretch metal through a die at room temperature to change its shape and size. This step can increase the strength and hardness of the material while improving the surface finish.

1.3 Induction Quenching

Using the principle of high-frequency induction heating, the surface of the linear motion slide rail is heated to a high temperature, and then the surface is quickly cooled by the quenching medium. This step can significantly improve the hardness and wear resistance of the guide surface and extend its service life.

1.4 Drilling

Drill holes at specific locations of the guide for installation or fixing. Drilling requires high-precision equipment to ensure that the position, diameter and depth of the hole meet the design requirements.

1.5 Straightening

Straightening is to adjust the straightness of the linear motion slide rail to ensure its consistency over the entire length. Straightening is essential to ensure the precise guidance and smooth movement of the guide rail in actual application.

1.6 Reference Surface Grinding

The reference surface of the linear motion slide rail is ground using a high-precision grinding machine to achieve the required flatness and finish. The quality of the reference surface directly affects the installation accuracy and overall performance of the guide rail.

1.7 Ballway Forming Grinding

Ballway forming grinding is the precision grinding of the ballway (the track on which the rolling elements run) on the guide rail. In the manufacture of linear guides, the grinding process is mainly used to improve the accuracy and surface quality of the guide rail.

2. Carriage Process Description

2.1 Forging

  • Forging

In this step, the metal (usually steel) is heated to a high temperature to make it reach a plastic state, and then formed by pressure on a forging machine. This process can increase the density of the material and refine the grains, thereby improving its overall mechanical properties.

  • Quenching and Tempering

Quenching and tempering is a heat treatment process that involves heating to a certain temperature and then cooling. This step is designed to adjust the hardness and toughness of the metal to make it more suitable for subsequent processing and use.

  • Shape Processing

This step involves processing the forged metal billet into the final linear motion slide rail shape. Common processing methods include milling, grinding and drilling, all of which are to ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the guide rail.

2.2 Hot Rolling

  • Hot Rolling

During the hot rolling process, the metal is rolled into plates or strips at high temperatures. This process is often used to produce larger batches of guide rails because it can quickly and efficiently change the shape and size of the metal.

  • Cold Drawing

Cold drawing is carried out at room temperature and changes the shape and size of the metal by stretching it. This step can further improve the strength and surface finish of the metal.

  • Quenching and Tempering

Similar to the quenching and tempering in the forging process, this step is also to optimize the mechanical properties of the metal to meet the requirements of use.

Summary

Through the processing of the above links, the linear motion slide rails have been improved in terms of accuracy, hardness, surface finish and wear resistance. The coordination between the various links is also a necessary factor for the successful manufacture of high-quality linear guides.
